From the showrunner of the succesful series “La Que Se Avecina”, which is still on air after 11 seasons, MEDITERRÁNEO brings “The Countryside”.
A new comedy which tells the story of a group of urbanites flee the city for different reasons: existential crisis, economic crisis, need for fresh air, search for peace, inspiration to compose…
The intent of these strangers is to settle in an abandoned village and start from scratch their lives, but when they arrive they discover that there are still some neighbors: rural people with a very different way of seeing life.
This is the starting point of “The Countryside” , the new comedy produced by Mediaset España and Contubernio Films whose first season has been premiered by Amazon Prime Video in Spain, after the agreement reached through MEDITERRÁNEO.
The series has a humorous tone about the adaptation of the new villagers to the harsh rural environment but also the clash of those two worlds. From the eyes of the locals we will see the absurdity of many of our concerns.
“The Countryside” is a choral comedy. Rogue and acidic but framed in a rural costumbrism, with a cared aesthetic, natural decorations and seventy percent of exteriors.
The urbanites will have to learn to live in a very different way than they did until now. In this journey the arch of each character will be different, some will take it better and more and others will fall into potholes in which they consider surrender. We will live this adaptation with them, but without forgetting about their past, because throughout the chapters, we’ll continue discovering through flashbacks the story that led there to each one.
