‘Vanished’: a phenomenon in Spain

Created by Xabi Zabaleta and Marta Grau and starring Gorka Otxoa, Itziar Atienza, Jon Lukas, Ane Rot, and singer Leire Martínez, Desaparecido (aka. Vanished) has become a major hit on both Netflix, where it remained in the Top 10 for nine consecutive weeks, and Primeran, breaking records as the most-viewed title in EITB’s history. This youth thriller follows the disappearance of a teenager after a camping trip in the mountains with friends, leaving only a disturbing video posted on social media just before vanishing. Notably, ‘Desaparecido’ is the first series in Spain to be filmed entirely in two parallel versions, in Spanish and Basque.

‘Olivia’: A Feel-Good Family Drama with a Touch of Magical Realism

Olivia is a dramedy created and produced by David Troncoso (‘The Head, Paradise’, ‘La Ley del mar’, ‘Veneno’) y Flipy (‘Las Bravas’, ‘Noobes’, ‘La Ley del mar’, ‘El Chiringuito de Pepe’). The series is centered on Mario Rey (Pablo Chiapella), the country’s most popular TV weatherman, who after an unexpected twist in his life seeks refuge with his daughter Olivia (María Schwinning) at the olive grove of his estranged father Tomás (Nancho Novo), with whom he has not spoken for 30 years. Set in the world of olive oil, the series combines feel-good storytelling with a touch of magical realism. At its heart, it explores the fleeting nature of the present and the lasting value that only time can reveal. The cast also includes Fernando Tejero, Kira Miró, María Barranco, and Lalachus.
