The popularity harvested in its linear broadcast is now extrapolated to the digital environment. Since its worldwide premiere on Netflix last Friday, May 20, the fiction starring José Coronado and Nona Sobo has reaped extraordinary data on the platform domestically and worldwide.
“The Wrong Side of The Tracks” is #3 in the global ranking of the most-watched non-English series on Netflix. It has also become the most-watched series on the platform in Spain shortly after its premiere.
The notoriety of the series has spread to other territories as the fiction has positioned itself in the Top 10 Netflix series in 31 countries worldwide. In America, it is among the most-watched series in 15 countries, including the United States; similar results in Europe favor its prevalence in the Top 10 in nine countries. Several territories in continents such as Africa, Asia, and Oceania can also find the Mediterraneo´s fiction among the most-watched content on Netflix.
However, the success of this fiction dates back to its linear broadcast on Telecinco, where it remained the leader of its broadcast slot for four months.
During its two seasons, the series has managed to maintain an average audience of 2 million viewers, both live and deferred. This figure increased to 3.5 million people in the free-to-air broadcast of the last episode, with a predominance in the teenage and young audience.
“The Wrong Side of The Tracks” is a series that realistically contextualizes the daily life of a problematic neighborhood. The importance of the series lies in addressing fundamental issues such as the generation gap, the coexistence of different cultures, human values, and transitions in today’s society.
The fiction was born to tell a story that would captivate and generate characters of different cultural backgrounds and ages, all of them living in the same neighborhood, and undoubtedly this story, and the fast-paced relationship of an ex-military man now an ironmonger and his underage granddaughter, is conquering audiences worldwide.
