The adaptation, which has yet to have a definitive title, will tell the story of the daily life of a community of neighbors in a condominium on the outskirts of Lisbon. Taking advantage of the difficulties in the Portuguese housing market, the developer promised the new owners features that the condominium did not have, leaving them to deal with defective apartments, intercoms that don’t work, and walls so thin that privacy is an illusion.

Portuguese will be the third international remake of the series, following its adaptations in Italy (Canale 5) and Greece (Skai TV). Created by Alberto and Laura Caballero and Daniel Deorador and produced by Mediaset España in collaboration with Contubernio Films, the original Spanish version is one of the longest-running and most successful series in the history of television in Spain.

The remake of ‘La que se avecina’ in Portugal will feature renowned Portuguese actors such as Diogo Morgado, who played Jesus Christ in the popular History Channel series ‘La Biblia’ and in the film ‘Hijo de Dios’; Alexandra Lencastre, Tiago Teotónio Pereira, Bárbara França, Miguel Raposo, Miguel Guilherme, Fernando Pires, Diogo Valsassina, and Margarida Bakker. The filming has been incredibly tough: we have experienced firsthand the tragedy of people succumbing to overdose, ambulances overwhelmed with near-lethal cases, and thousands of addicts left abandoned by the authorities. I’ve been deeply struck by the age of the consumers, very young kids who got addicted very quickly. We’ve been with families who have lost their 16 and 17-year-old children, and minors who buy this drug through social media. The situation is dramatic,” explains Alejandra Andrade.

Synopsis – Fentanyl: A Deadly Epidemic (Part 1)

In the first part of the report, Alejandra Andrade delves into Skid Row, the epicenter of the epidemic and the most dangerous area in Los Angeles. Only the fire department and a few NGOs dare to enter this place, where more than 40,000 addicts roam the streets. In her journey through the area, the journalist gives names and hearts to the faces that tragedy has reduced to mere statistics, speaking with both addicts and traffickers. She also discusses this severe problem with the Pulitzer-nominated journalists from the prestigious San Francisco Chronicle who have thoroughly investigated it. With them, she discovers that synthetic fentanyl arrives from China to Mexico, where cartels use it to cut other drugs like heroin, and from there, it is sent to California with the help of illegal immigrants willing to take risks to cross the border.

The drama exposed by ‘Out of Range’ cameras in this work raises the unsettling question of whether this epidemic could cross borders and spread worldwide until it reaches our country, a question the program will attempt to answer in its upcoming episode.

After the selection of ‘Disappeared’ in Mip Drama Buters Summit showcase as one of the most attractive series worldwide, the famous French consultant The Wit, represented by its CEO Virginia Mouseler, has highlighted two new formats and a series distributed by Mediterráneo during the different Fresh TV sessions.

Both entertainment formats are original proposals based on humor brought by Producciones Mandarina, one of the production companies that are part of Mediterráneo’s conglomerate.

‘Don’t Delete It’ is conceived as a daily 30 minute game show in which participants submit their worst or most comical photos. During the show, the host and the jury comment the pictures grouped in different sections and end up giving a cash prize to the best-worst photo.

Besides, ‘Locked Up In My Show’ is an innovative late night show that mixes comedy with reality show elements, in which the host is a comedian that lives isolated in a house attached to the studio. Every day he will go out to present without a script and without knowing anything about what has happened in the world. He will have to use his improvisation skills to get the program going and deal with the contents and guests until his isolation is over, time when another host takes up the challenge.
